Case StudyUS Painting Contractor

US Painting Contractor — Regional Service Business

An established regional painting contractor was invisible to AI-generated answers — until technical remediation, structured data, and entity-consistency work made it citable again.

Situation

An established regional painting contractor in the United States with a real customer base and a working business. Their website existed, but it had never been built with machine comprehension in mind — it was built for people, by someone thinking about people.

What We Found

The site was, in practical terms, unreadable to AI systems. Critical service and location information wasn't structured in any way a machine could reliably extract. Structured data was absent or incomplete. The business existed as a coherent entity in the real world and as an incoherent one online — described differently across its own site, its Google Business Profile, and the directory listings that AI systems draw from.

The result was predictable: when someone asked an AI assistant for a painting contractor in their area, this business — a legitimate, established operator — was simply not part of the conversation.

What We Did

Technical remediation first: made the site properly crawlable, including by AI crawlers specifically. Then structured data across service and location templates. Then content restructuring, so that the answers to the questions customers actually ask were stated plainly and extractably rather than implied across paragraphs. Finally, entity consistency work — aligning how the business is described everywhere it appears, so that AI systems stop being uncertain about what it is.

Result

Visibility in AI-generated answers where the business had previously been absent entirely. Improved traditional search rankings alongside it — the technical foundation serves both. Increased organic traffic. And the outcome the client actually cared about: more inbound calls.

Timeframe

Initial movement within one to two months.

Why that fast? Because the starting point was a site machines couldn't read at all. When you go from invisible to legible, the first gains come quickly. This is not a promise we'd repeat for a client whose foundation is already sound — for them, progress is slower and comes from authority work, not comprehension fixes. We'd rather tell you that now than have you discover it in month three.
